Untitled: New episode of House, MD

nysoulka:

Just watched the episode today, with no prior knowledge that it was going to contain an asexual couple. After watching it, there was one scene that simply didn’t make sense to me. Here is to hoping someone stumbles across this post and can help me figure this out.
There is a scene where House and…

The idea that being asexual it somehow makes us ‘immune’ to sexualised things in general is a complete misnomer. I, personally, am hyper aware and uncomfortable with sexualised stuff and have low self-esteem in general. Sex doesn’t sell for me, it makes me really uncomfortable and will often stop me from buying products due to their connotations (at least in my mind). But there are also lots of asexuals who don’t find it a problem - it’s a very personal and subjective thing.

The House episode misrepresented a lot of things about asexuality, presented common misconceptions and took them as fact, and over-simplified the matter way too much.

There’s way more I could say here, but that’s my take on the matter.
